Our feelings are determined by how we think about things. By looking at the way we think about situations we can change the way we feel about them. Our emotional well being is something we can control.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy seeks to reduce emotional distress by looking at the way we think about ourselves and what happens to us. This is a collaborative process between the client and the counsellor.
Tasks are agreed upon that the client carries out between sessions such as thought diaries and evidence based work. Through this process change can occur and the client is once more in control of their own emotional well-being.
